Water Rescue Equipment

Water rescue accounts for a considerable proportion of rescues undertaken by the emergency Rescue using the Airtrak during the Tewsbury Floodingrescue services.  Given the trend towards wetter summers and increased incidence of flooding throughout the UK, there is no reason to expect a decrease in water rescue occurrences. It is therefore crucial that the emergency services' ability to deal with all forms of water rescue is maintained both through regular training of personnel and the provision of appropriate water rescue equipment.

Water rescue response by all emergency services is reliant on the following:
  • The resources and capabilities of all agencies currently involved in water rescue emergencies, including flooding
  • Good operational arrangements between responders
  • The level of public awareness and education of the risks associated with open water
  • Appropriate water rescue equipment

Recovery of people stuck in the mud using AirtrakCurrently a wide range of agencies, including police, fire & rescue services, mountain rescue teams, HM Coastguard and the RNLI could be called upon to undertake a water rescue, with the response in many cases involving several agencies. It is an area of rescue where co-ordination is paramount and many authorities are currently undertaking a full review of their water rescue arrangements to ensure clarity on roles and responsibilities. Water rescue capability covers flooding, coastal water, rivers & streams, gorges, lakes, canals and abandoned industrial works.

The Motorised Rescue Sled will tow another craftMFC Survival has been developing its water rescue equipment range for some time, both as part of its ongoing product development but also through a perceived need articulated by emergency rescue services. Recent additions to the water rescue equipment range have been the Motorised Rescue Sled which will accommodate up to 15 people, and has a towing capacity; the Water Rescue Kit which is completely customisable according to requirements; and an Animal Rescue Path and Mud Rescue Lance for the extrication of distressed animals stuck in the mud. Many of MFC Survival's water rescue products are used by water rescue training organisations to provide realistic role-play scenarios.
